Confirming your email
Without a confirmed address you can't get into the dashboard. The link comes in the welcome email and is good for seven days. Until you open it, instead of the dashboard you get “Confirm your email”, with a button for us to send it to you again and another to log out and in with a different account – the way out for anyone who mistyped their own address.
That screen notices on its own: if you open the link on your phone, it goes into the dashboard without you having to touch anything. And nothing is lost on the way, because the guided setup comes first and saves every answer as you go.
If you've lost your password
- 1Ask for the link at I've forgotten my password, using the account's email address.
- 2Open the email. The link is good for one hour and works only once; asking for a new one kills the previous one, so always use the last one you're sent.
- 3Choose a new password: at least eight characters, with no compulsory capitals or symbols. What actually protects you is the length, not the trimmings.
Changing it closes every open session, including those on other devices: people usually reset because they suspect someone has got in, and leaving those alive would make the change pointless. The one you're on stays open, so you aren't asked for the password twice in a row.
Logging out
A session lasts thirty days at most and is closed from your account menu. If you suspect someone else has got in, change the password: that closes them all at once.
When you ask for the link we answer the same whether the account exists or not, so nobody can find out who has an account here by trying email addresses. If you get the address wrong nothing will arrive and we won't tell you either: if it doesn't turn up, see an email isn't arriving.
