Creating your account is two moments one after the other: a short sign-up and a guided setup that gets the dashboard ready for your organisation. The sign-up asks for your name, your email, a password of at least eight characters and that you accept the legal notice and the privacy policy. That box starts unticked and is the only compulsory one: ticked by default it would not be consent.
The organisation's name isn't asked for here. It is asked at the next step, which is where you decide whether to create a new one or join one that already exists.
The guided setup: five steps
- 1Your organisation. Create it – you're the first account from your organisation – or join the one that is already registered. Joining is by invitation only: there is no organisation search, because nobody should be able to get into somebody else's. If you create yours, this is where its name, its type and its date established go.
- 2What you work on. Your fields of work. It is the only compulsory step: it is the filter that cuts the catalogue down most, and without it nothing can be prioritised.
- 3Where you work. The regions you work in and the groups you support. Many calls are regional and only accept organisations from their own territory.
- 4How big you are. This year's budget, paid staff, volunteers and the people you supported last year.
- 5Which alerts you want. The same switches as the Alerts screen, on by default. Touch nothing and you stay as you were.
Every answer saves itself, there and then. There is no save button at the end. That is why “Skip for now” loses nothing: you leave the wizard and whatever you answered is still there, and whatever is missing you can complete whenever you like from My organisation. At the top you see the profile percentage going up with each answer, which is the same number the dashboard shows you afterwards.
Until you confirm your email you can't get into the dashboard. A link goes to the address you gave; until you open it you'll see the “Confirm your email” screen, with a button to send it again and another to log out and in with a different account, in case you mistyped it. The guided setup can be done before confirming: come back from the email and you find your profile already done. If the email doesn't arrive, see An email isn't arriving.
